I was expecting a flexible cystoscopy which I have had before, using local anaesthetic. When the dietary preparation was explained to me at Portland Place and Grosvenor Place I was surprised to learn that I should fast for 6 hours, taking only minimal water but avoiding milk, and I needed to be escorted home afterwards. This suggests the use of a general anaesthetic,! The nurse at preassessment assured me it was necessary preparation. The nurse at hospital listened when I explained that my admission correspondence included “LA” (local) and advised planning for escort, so my wife rearranged her activities to collect me. When they raised this with my consultant he confirmed that local anaesthetic would be used so escort wasn’t needed, and he arranged light food for lunch. This confusion by nurses did not meet my expectations.

It is a superb facility and I felt people had time for me, particularly demonstrated by how long the pacemaker team spent with me trying (successfully) to solve a difficult issue.

Seen the doctor and all the investigations were done straightaway including bloods ,ecg and echo. Results were available for the doctor to make management optimal. Blood results available to me as well via my chart.

Hospital environment, cleanliness, facilities were very good. But special thanks to the nurses on the floor, pre-op, during operation, recovery & after care, you have commendable strong nursing team who are passionate towards patients and their care. I know the nurses who were assigned with me, went out of way to provide the care. My gratitude to them all.
